Protect your Terraria worlds against corruption by setting up safe saving protocols and backups. ## Steps 1. Before updating or restarting your Terraria server, issue the save command in console: /save or save. 2. Wait for the console confirmation message indicating world data has been written to disk. 3. Stop the server before copying .wld and .wld.bak files from the worlds/ folder. 4. Download the world files to your local device via SFTP for off-site backup storage. 5. To restore a backup, stop the server, upload the saved .wld file, and start the server. ## Notes - Terraria automatically creates a .wld.bak backup file upon every successful save. - Never download or replace active world files while the server process is running.
