Best practices for installing, configuring, and troubleshooting resource-heavy Forge and NeoForge modpacks. ## Steps 1. Ensure you have selected a Java plan with adequate memory resources (3 GB+ RAM recommended for heavy modpacks). 2. Select Forge or NeoForge from the server software library matching your exact target Minecraft version. 3. Download client and server mod assets from trusted repositories (CurseForge or Modrinth). 4. Upload mod files into the mods/ folder and config files into the config/ folder using SFTP. 5. Remove client-only mods (such as Optifine, Sodium, Iris, or minimap mods) from the server mods directory before starting. 6. Start the server and carefully monitor startup logs for missing dependency warnings or duplicate ID crashes. ## Notes - Forge and NeoForge initialization can take 2-4 minutes on initial world generation. - Always test modpacks locally or with 1-2 players before opening to a larger group. ## Warning Including client-side rendering mods on a dedicated server will cause server launch crashes.
